Every Wednesday From 8:00 'til Midnight
|
|
The Sons of Hermann Hall hosts a swing dance and lessons
every Wednesday from 8:00 until Midnight. Lessons from
8:00pm to 9:00pm. First timers are welcome and you don't
need to bring a partner. Everyone of all ages that likes to dance or wants to learn is welcome. |
|

|
Lessons start at 8:00pm. Even someone
with two left feet can learn to Swing Dance. It's easy and it's
fun. Great local teachers will have you cutting a rug in no time.
If you like to dance, this is a great place to practice
with beginning and experienced partners. The Hall has been around since
before swing was invented and it's got a great hardwood dance floor.
Learn a new step or two then dance and watch the cats & kittens jump,
jive, and wail.
After lessons everyone gets a
chance to practice new steps, brush up on old favorites, and just have a
good time. |
|
Dress code: Comfortable!
Rockabilly rags, zoot suits, and 40's & 50's hepcat vine are fun but
entirely optional. Wear 'em if you got 'em but don't stay home if
all your drapes are civilian! One thing: please avoid
shoes that will scuff, mark, or damage our beautiful old hardwood dance
floor!

Parents: Many parents have
expressed concern about Deep Ellum. The Sons of Hermann Hall is a family
place. We're at the opposite end of Elm Street, several blocks away
from the nightclub district. All activities are adult supervised so your
teens and their friends are safe and in good company. The ballroom
upstairs is smoke- and alcohol-free. Please feel free to stop by any
time the hall is open and check it out. Better still, come to dance
class with your family - many parents do! It's fun, great exercise,
and you'll enjoy it as much as your young ones do!
